Activities - (2019-2020)

The PG and Research Department of Computer Science inaugurated its Association on August 05, 2019. Dr. P. Madhava Soma Sundaram, Member Syndicate, Professor and Head, Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice & Director, Centre for Planning and Development, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, was the chief guest and gave a talk on the topic, “This is Your Time”. The Department conducted its first guest lecture on 30-08-19 titled, “Deep Learning and its Creative Applications” and Dr. M. Gethsiyal Augasta, M.C.A., SET., Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Kamaraj College, Thoothukudi, was the resource person. Subsequently, the second guest lecture was organized on February 05, 2020 where Dr. B. Beneson Thilagar Christadoss, Associate Professor, Department of English, St. John’s College, Palayamkottai, delivered a talk on “Personality Development”. The department organized a Six-Day State Level Workshop on “Salesforce Adx-201 Workshop” from 14.10.2019 to 19.10.2019. Around 100 students participated in the workshop. On September 28, 2019, the department conducted an Institutional workshop titled, “One Day Hands on Training – Android App Development” and Mr. S. Mydeen Bathusha, M.Sc., DCA., Android Developer, JamBoo Software Solutions, Tirunelveli, was the resource person. More than 60 participants attended the workshop.

A national level workshop titled, “National Seminar on Internet of Things IoT 2020” was organized by the department on February 21, 2020. Dr. Pavan Kumar, M.E. Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Dharwad; Dr. Anand Mahendran, M.E., Ph.D., Associate Professor, School of Computing Science and Engineering, VIT University, Vellore, were the resource persons. Around 270 participants across the State from various colleges attended the workshop.

The department continued its vibrancy by conducting an orientation programme on 02.03.2020 titled, “An Orientation Programme on Career Opportunities for Computer Science Students” and Mr. Sivarama Krishnan, M.A., M.Phil., NET., SET., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Rani Anna Government College for Women, Tirunelveli, was the invited speaker.

The department organized a State Level Technical Symposium titled EXCELSIOR’2020 on 05.03.2020. Dr. R. Shanthakumari, Principal, M. S. University Constituent College of Arts and Science, Nagalapuram; and Mrs. P. Anitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Sri Sarada College for Women, Tirunelveli, were the invited guest speakers. More than 200 students from various colleges participated in the event and explored their technical knacks.
