Association Inauguration Function-“Neural Networks And Deep Learning”

Association Inaugural “Neural Networks And Deep Learning” was organized by our department on 25th August, 2022 in PG LAB-III. The chief guest of the event was Dr. G. Heren Chellam, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Rani Anna Government College for Women, Tirunelveli. Presidential address was given by Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice-Principal, Unaided Programme.


Industrial Visit to Gateway Software Solutions, Coimbatore

Our department organised an Industrial Visit on 15 October 2022 at Gateway Software Solutions in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore district. A total of 21 students and 4 coordinating professors took part in the visit. The company encapsulated our students with their knowledge of the computer industry. They also provide in-plant training for all students of our department on the topic "Recent trends in the IT industry". This Industrial Visit had become an opportunity for students to get to know the needs and opportunities of the industry.


Industrial Visit to Alfaj Code Breeze, Tirunelveli

On October 15, 2022, our department organised an industrial visit at Tirunelveli's Alfaj Code Breeze. The visit was attended by a total of 46 students and 3 coordinating professors. The Consultant Manager, Mr. Ismail, spoke about his training and experience with Alfaj Code Breeze and how it relates to the sector. For our students, they held a mock interview. For final-year students who are considering careers, it provided good exposure. Additionally, they offer "IT Industry" in-plant training to all of our department's students.


Two Day Hands on Training on IoT - Introduction to Hardware & Software

The PG Department of Computer Science organised a two-day hands-on training session on the Internet of Things (IoT) - An Introduction to Hardware & Software, which was held on January 30 and 31, 2023, in Lab III. Ms. V. Roseline, Head & Assistant Professor of the PG and Research Department of Computer Science, gave the Welcome address.

Felicitation address was given by Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice-Principal, unaided courses. Iconix Software Solution Senior Project Manager, Mr. R. Saravana Kumar, gave a special address in Tirunelveli. Mr. M. Rajiv, an IoT developer at Iconix Software Solution, conducted the course. At the first day session, hardware and software were introduced. The writing of the IoT installation software continued on the second day.

These two days of training were beneficial for the M.Sc. Computer Science students in both the I and II programmes

Ms. Subbulakshmi, I M.Sc. CS, provided oral feedback on the training at the conclusion of the session. This programme was coordinated by Mr. K. Ganesh Kumar and Dr. D. M. Annie BrightyChristilin, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Computer Science. Mr. K. A. Mohamed Riyazudeen, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Computer Science, enclosed the programme with a vote of thanks. Ms. P.S. Mohamed Afrin Banu, II M.Sc. CS, was in responsibility of serving as master of ceremonies for this programme.


Guest Lecture on "Road to Success"

The PG Department of Computer Science held a prestigious guest lecture on the theme "Road to Success" on the 12th of October 2022. The event aimed to provide students with valuable insights and perspectives from esteemed speakers hailing from diverse backgrounds

The session commenced with a soulful Qirath by H. Sheik Mydeen Raja, a second-year M.Sc. student. Mrs. V. Roseline, Head, PG Department of Computer Science, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, the Principal of the institution, delivered the presidential address with his words of wisdom and encouragement. Dr. S. M. A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice Principal, offered a felicitation address.


Mr. S. M. Ansari, an Associate Architect at Nagarro Enterprise Services Pvt Ltd, Gurgaon, Haryana, delivered a special address. His real-world experiences and insights provided a unique perspective on achieving success in the professional arena.

Mr. Ganesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the distinguished speakers and participants. The master of ceremony duties were capably handled by Mr. Ebenesar and Mr. Sekar, both second-year M.Sc. students. Their engaging and organized approach ensured the smooth flow of the event.

The "Road to Success" guest lecture provided a remarkable platform for students to gain insights from accomplished individuals in various domains. The event's success is a testament to the department's commitment to holistic education, fostering not only academic knowledge but also personal and professional growth. Attendees left the seminar hall with newfound inspiration and determination to navigate their own paths to success.


Alumni Interaction with Ms. Selva Lakshmi: A Voyage from College to Corporate

Our department had the honor of hosting Ms. Selva Lakshmi from Unique Force Technology Solutions, Chennai, a distinguished alumnus of our Department, for an enlightening interaction with our I and II M.Sc. Computer Science students on 25.01.2023. This session served as a significant platform for students to gain profound insights into the transition from academic life to the dynamic corporate world.

Ms. Selva Lakshmi commenced the session by sharing his personal journey, spanning from her student days in our department to her accomplished career in the corporate domain. Her narrative resonated with the aspiring computer science students, providing them with an authentic perspective on the professional journey.


The alumnus delved into the strategies he employed to excel in job interviews. She addressed students' concerns about interview performance, offering effective stress management techniques and insights for presenting themselves with poise.

The interaction was highly interactive, allowing students to seek personalized advice directly from Ms. Selva Lakshmi. This open exchange enabled students to receive tailored guidance based on their specific queries and apprehensions.


An Awareness Program on Safe Internet Day

On February 7, 2023, our department marked a significant occasion - the celebration of Safe Internet Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of online safety and security in the digital age.


Mr. K. Ganesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, of our department delivered an engaging and informative talk that captivated the audience of I and II MSc. Computer Science. His discussion delved into the intricacies of maintaining well-being while navigating the internet landscape. He comprehensively covered various online threats, including cyberbullying, identity theft, and phishing. He emphasized the importance of adopting robust security measures to safeguard personal information and data. The talk served as an empowering session, equipping attendees with essential knowledge to recognize and counter potential risks while using the internet. The Celebration of Safe Internet Day was a resounding success, effectively fulfilling its goal of promoting awareness and education about internet safety.


Alumni Interaction with Mr. Abdul Kader: A Journey from College to Corporate

In a notable event held at our department, Mr. Abdul Kader from Pit Solutions Pvt Ltd, Trivandrum, an esteemed alumnus of our institution, engaged with the students of I and II M.Sc. Computer Science on 18.02.2023. The session provided a valuable platform for students to gain insights into the transition from academia to the corporate world.

Mr. Abdul Kader's visit commenced with an inspiring discussion on his personal journey, navigating the path from college to the corporate sector. He shared his experiences, challenges, and triumphs, offering students a glimpse into the realities of the professional world.


One of the highlights of Mr. Abdul Kader's talk was his detailed account of how he prepared for interviews during his transition. He highlighted the importance of certifications in boosting one's employability aided him in confidently addressing technical questions during interviews.


The State Level Workshop on Advanced Trends in Computer Science - ATCS' 23

The Department of Computer Science has organised The State Level Workshop on Advanced Trends in Computer Science - ATCS' 23 on February 23, 2023.


The event began with a Qirath and Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by welcome and presidential addresses. The Head of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. A. Shakul Hamid, delivered the welcome address, and the Principal, Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, delivered the presidential address.

The workshop event also included an alumni address from Mrs. Revathi Durai, a representative from 3i-Infotech-NuRe Park, Tirunelveli.

The release of the souvenir was also scheduled for the event. Mr. K. Anupriyan, the Tech. Lead of Livewire Corporate in Chennai, provided two technical sessions on "Full Stack Technology to Learn Coding" and "Top Trending Technologies to Learn in 2023."

The valedictory began at 3:30 pm, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. B.N. Prathibha, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. The programme concluded with The National Anthem, and Ms. P.S. Mohamed Afrin Banu, a second-year M.Sc. Computer Science, conducted the Master of Ceremony.

The workshop organized by the Department of Computer Science proved to be an informative and engaging program. It provided a great opportunity for participants to learn from experts in the field and gain practical experience. The event's programme was well-structured and organized. Many participants appreciated the practicality of full-stack web development courses, which allowed them to create real-world applications that they could add to their portfolio.


Staff & Student Exchange Program in collaboration with Department of Compute Applications & Research Centre, Sarah Tucker College

The Faculty and Student Exchange Program was effectively executed in collaboration between our esteemed department and the Department of Computer Applications, Sarah Tucker College. This collaboration aimed to nurture the sharing of knowledge, elevate teaching methodologies, and cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship between the faculties of both institutions.

The Faculty Exchange Program saw enthusiastic participation from Department of Compute Applications & Research Centre, Sarah Tucker College educators, with a remarkable contribution from Dr. Jai Ruby. Her extensive proficiency and dedication in the field of network Programming in Java, made her an ideal representative for this enriching exchange.


Interactive sessions stood as a highlight of the program, wherein Dr. Jai Ruby, interacted with our department students on diverse subjects, encouraging dynamic discussions and elucidating queries. Her engaging approach stimulated students to think critically and explore the practical applications of theoretical concepts.


Staff & Student Exchange Program in collaboration with Department of Computer Applications, Sarah Tucker College

A remarkable academic initiative, the Staff & Student Exchange Program, was successfully conducted between our esteemed department and the MCA Department of Sarah Tucker College on 30.03.2023. This collaboration aimed to foster knowledge sharing, enhance teaching methodologies, and promote a symbiotic relationship between the faculties of both institutions.


The Staff Exchange Program saw active participation from our department's faculty members, with a notable contribution from Dr. Annie. During her time at Sarah Tucker College, Dr. Annie Brighty Christilin engaged in diverse academic activities, including delivering lectures, and participating in discussions. She shared her insights into emerging trends in the field of Computer Science and provided valuable guidance to the MCA students and faculty.

The staff exchange program facilitated the exchange of ideas and experiences between faculty members, enhancing their understanding of diverse teaching methodologies and perspectives. This cross-institutional learning encouraged the adoption of innovative teaching techniques.

The Staff Exchange Program with the MCA Department of Sarah Tucker College was a resounding success, marking the beginning of a meaningful academic partnership. This initiative exemplifies our department's commitment to fostering collaborative learning environments and promoting academic excellence. As we look forward to further collaborative endeavors, we are confident that this collaboration will continue to yield fruitful results in the academic realm.


Department Association Valedictory Function

The Department Association Valedictory Function held on 6th April 2023 marked a significant event in our academic calendar. The session focused on the intriguing topic of "Introduction to NoSQL," delivered by esteemed guest speaker, Dr. A. Shameem Fathima, Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Sarah Tucker College.

Dr. A. Shameem Fathima, a recognized authority in the field of Computer Science, delivered an enlightening talk on the concept of NoSQL databases. Her extensive knowledge and experience added immense value to the session


The session commenced with a comprehensive overview of NoSQL databases, a revolutionary approach to database management. Dr. Fathima delved into the fundamental principles, advantages, and real-world applications of NoSQL, captivating the audience's attention

Dr. A. Shameem Fathima's session concluded on an inspiring note, emphasizing the importance of staying updated with emerging technologies like NoSQL. Her encouragement to explore new horizons left a lasting impact on participants, encouraging them to embrace innovation.
