About the Department

The PG Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2017. The department aims to facilitate the acquisition of scientific skills, employability and community service. A team of three dedicated faculty recognized as Research Guides with strong academic background serve the department. The faculty are actively involved in thrust areas such as Green Chemistry, Nano -science and Organic Synthesis. The facilities of the department include well equipped lab with Chem-softwares and instrumentation such as PC Based Double Beam UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Micro controller based flame photo meter with Na, BOD Incubator Digital etc. From the first batch of students, six are employed in educational institutions and two of the students are pursuing their higher studies. The department provides an enriched curriculum which facilitates the students to get through competitive examinations. Further, the faculty of the department provide mentoring to students to enhance the ethical behavior of the students to impart social responsibility. Interdisciplinary courses offered by the department aims to provide self-employment opportunity and problem solving skill to students. Two TNSCST student-projects approved is yet another milestone in the history of the department.

The vision of the department is to facilitate learning through creativity and enriched curriculum to make students serve not only as better persons but also an excellent leader to serve the society and become responsible citizen of India. This broad perspective and the steps towards the vision make the PG Department of Chemistry as one of the potential departments of Sadakathullah Appa College. The department organizes International Conferences and National Seminars to provide platform for the students to take active participation in research and present research papers.
