Skill Development Training

Skill Development Training at Palayamkottai College, Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology of Sadakathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai, organized a three-day skill development training program from 15.09.2025 to 17.09.2025 on the topic "Career Opportunities in Zoology and Bridging Science with the Market," which commenced today (15.09.2025) at the college auditorium.

The training focused on skill development in the areas of beekeeping, poultry farming, and aquaculture.

Dr. V.R. Saminathan, Professor in the Department of Entomology at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, participated as the chief guest of first day and provided training on beekeeping. In his special address, he raised awareness about the different types of bees, their rearing, maintenance, and disease prevention. He emphasized that beekeeping can be chosen as a high-yielding business venture with low investment. On the second day, Dr. S.C. Edwin, a professor from the Veterinary College in Ramayanpatti, Tirunelveli, interacted with the participants regarding poultry farming and explained in a simple manner the methods to improve their professional skills. On the third day, Dr. S. Adithan, a professor from the Fisheries College and Research Institute in Thoothukudi, participated and explained freshwater aquaculture and its technologies to the students in an understandable and humorous way. Following this, certificates were distributed to the participants.
Faculty members and 150 students from various colleges participated and benefited from this event, both in person and online.
