Activities - (2023-2024)

On 17th August, 2023 the Department of Commerce ‘A’ organized an association inaugural function for the academic year 2023-2024 at the college auditorium. The Commerce Association Inaugural function was commenced with Qirath. The chairman of the association Mr. S. Mohamed Sinda Afraas of III B.com ‘A’ welcomed the gathering. The Vice-Principal Dr.Syed Mohamed Khaja, M.Com., M.Phil., MBA., B.Ed., PGDCA., Ph.d., presided over the function and delivered the presidential address. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr.S.KANCHANA, Head of the Department of Commerce, Sarah Tucker College who delivered the inaugural address on the topic “WHAT WINNERS DO TO WIN”. The elected office bearers from the I year, II year and the III year were also being introduced in the programme. The department also conducted a quiz programme for the I B.Com, II B.Com and III B.Com students. The chief guest also distributed prizes to the students who secured first and second position. The Secretary of the association Mr. S. Sakthi Kesavan of III B.com A proposed the vote of thanks.

The program was successfully inaugurated with staff members, office bearers, ant the students of our department.

On 27th October, 2023 the Department of Commerce ‘A’ organized a one dayHands on training session on Share Market Trade. The programme was commenced with Qirath. Mr. P. Manikandan of III B.com ‘A’ welcomed the gathering. The Head of the Department of PG & Research Department of Commerce, Dr. A. Hamil presided over the function and delivered the felicitation address. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mr.M. Sundar, Managing Partner, Mani Associates, Tirunelveliwho hashandled the technical session on ‘Hands on Training Session on Share Market Trade’.47 students from III B.Com A and III B.Com B participated in the one day workshop. The students were give live experience on share market trade which they found to be very useful.

At the end of the technical session, the valedictory function was organized Dr. A. Jesuraj, Head of the Department of B.Com A welcomed the gathering. Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, felicitated the gathering. The winners were awarded and the participants were given certificates in the valedictory function. Mr. Srikanth of III B.com B proposed vote of thanks.

The Department of Commerce A organized an educational tour to Kodaikanal on 31st October 2023 with the objective of enhancing students’ practical knowledge beyond the classroom. During the visit, students observed various aspects of the local business environment, especially tourism, hospitality, and small-scale trade activities. Key attractions such as Kodaikanal Lake and Coaker’s Walk were visited, where students interacted with local vendors and business owners to understand pricing strategies, customer service, and seasonal demand. The tour also provided insights into eco-tourism and sustainable business practices followed in the region.

The trip encouraged teamwork, leadership, and communication skills among students. It was both informative and enjoyable, offering real-time exposure to commerce-related activities in a hill station economy. Overall, the educational tour was a successful and enriching experience for all participants.

Department of COMMERCE A Organized orientation program on 7th February 2024 at 4:15 PM in the college auditorium. The event commenced with the recitation of Qirath by Mohamed Nistar P U (III B.Com A), invoking blessings for the successful conduct of the programme. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. M. Abdul Rahuman, Assistant Professor of Commerce, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. He emphasized the importance of orientation in shaping students’ academic journeys.

The Presidential Address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader. In his address, he highlighted the vision and mission of the institution, encouraged students to strive for academic excellence, and stressed the importance of discipline and holistic development.

The Felicitation Address was given by Dr. S. M. A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice-Principal (Unaided Courses), who motivated students to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the college and actively participate in curricular and co-curricular activities.

The Keynote Address was delivered by distinguished guests Dr. Balaji Iyer, Managing Director of INFACT PRO Trainers (OPC) Pvt. Ltd., Chennai; Mr. S. Gowri Shankar, General Manager, Reliance Telecom and Board of Advisors, IITM Pravartak; and Ms. B. Vaishnavi from IITM Pravartak. The speakers shared valuable insights on industry expectations, career readiness, skill development, and the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in the modern world. Their speeches inspired students to enhance their employability skills and prepare for future challenges.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. A. JesuRaj, Head & Assistant Professor of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, and participants for making the event a grand success. The Master of Ceremony for the event was R. Banu Priya (III B.Com A), who coordinated the proceedings smoothly.

The Integrated Department of Commerce Unaided (Commerce A, B & Finance) has organizeda one day national level seminar on the topic ‘The Challenging Dimensions on Digital Marketing’ on 26th February 2024 at 9.00 am in Seminar hall of our college.The inaugural session was started by 10.00 am with Qirath. Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice principal, welcomed the gathering and Dr. A. Shakul Hamid, Principal in-charge delivered the presidential address. The felicitation address was delivered by Dr. A. Hamil, Head and Associate professor of PG and Research Department of Commerce. Mr. K. Jaya Kumar, Certified Lead Auditor, Guest Faculty at Kerala Media Academy and Institute of Journalism, Press Club, Trivandrum was the Key note speaker for the Session I of the seminar. The seminar was attended by 177 participants which include students and faculty from various other colleges. The Technical Session II was started by 11.45 am. Dr. A. Jesuraj, Head and Assistant Professor of commerce (Sec. A) welcomed the gathering and Dr. K. Rajamannar Assistant Professor of commerce, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli was the speaker for the session. The session III i.e., the paper presentation started by 2.00 pm. The moderator for the paper presentation session was Dr. C. Chelladurai, Associate Professor of commerce, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. The participants actively presented their papers. The valedictory session was conducted from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The welcome speech for the valedictory session was delivered by Dr. K. Sheik Mydeen, Head and Assistant Professor of Commerce (Finance). The seminar proceedings was released by Dr. A. Hamil, Head and Associate professor of PG and research Department of Commerce and the Valedictory address was delivered by Dr. B. Ravichandran, Head and Associate Professor of commerce, VHNSN College, Virudhunagar. The certificates were distributed to the participants and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. J. Asanya Fathima, Assistant Professor of Commerce (Finance).

On 15th April, 2024 the Department of Commerce „A‟ organized an association valedictory function for the academic year 2023-2024 at the college Seminar Hall. The Commerce Association Valedictory function was commenced with Qirath. Mr. Mohamed Bathurutheen of III B.com „A‟ welcomed the gathering. The Principal Dr. S.M. Abdul Khader, presided over the function and delivered the presidential address.The Vice-principal, Dr. S.M.A. Syed Mohammed Khaja delivered the felicitation address. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr.M. Prabhu, Vice-Principal, Don Bosco College, Keelaeral, Thoothukudiwho delivered the valedictory address on the topic “IMPACT ON GREEN MARKETING”. The chief guest also distributed prizes to the students who participated in various seminars and competitions. Ms. R. Rajeshwari of II B.com A proposed the vote of thanks.
