ASSOCIATION INAGURAL

The Department of Commerce (Section-A) of Sadakathullah Appa College officially launched its association activities for the academic year with an inspiring inauguration ceremony held in the college auditorium on Wednesday 30.07.2025. The event focused on preparing students for future opportunities with the theme, “Commerce Beyond Borders: Preparing for Global Business Careers.” The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Bulomine Regi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce at St. Mary's College (Autonomous), Thoothukudi. In her inaugural address, Dr. Regi urged students to broaden their horizons and develop skills relevant to the international business environment. Following her motivational speech, she engaged with the students in an interactive question-and-answer session, providing valuable insights into the dynamic world of commerce. The function commenced with a divine qirath recitation by Mr. Sheikh Eid, a third-year student. The welcome address was delivered by Selvi Ramalakshmi of the second year.The ceremony was presided over by the college Principal, Dr. S.M. Abdul Kader, who delivered the presidential address. Dr. Janet Rani, the Vice Principal, offered felicitations to the department. Dr. Ed. Priyadarshini, Head of the Department of Commerce, introduced the Chief Guest.The event was skillfully moderated by third-year student Ms. Rajeshwari. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Harini Priya from the second year, and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, sung by the first-year students.The arrangements for the successful function were meticulously handled by department professors Dr. J.A.M.Omeray Farook, Dr.D.Sulthan Basha, and Ms. Ahmed Shafana. The event saw enthusiastic participation from all students of the department, who benefited greatly from the day's proceedings.

FINANCIAL AWARENESS WORKSHOP FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS (FACT)

The Department of Commerce (A) organized a Financial Awareness Workshop for College Students (FACT) on 08th September 2025 at 1.30 pm in the college premises, in collaboration with the National Centre for Financial Education (NCFE), Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The program commenced with a Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Ed. Priyadarshini, Head of the Department of Commerce (A Section). This was followed by a soulful Qirath rendered by Mr. Sheik Eid, a III-year Commerce student, setting a spiritual tone for the event.

The workshop featured Mr. Rajesh Babu Rajarathinam (Trainer No. NCFE/Trainer/SRO/TN/16) as the Chief Guest and Resource Person, who acted as the speaker/faculty. He engaged the students with an insightful session on financial literacy, highlighting the importance of financial planning, savings, and responsible money management.

As a mark of respect and appreciation, the Chief Guest was honoured by Dr. J. A. M. Omeray Farook, Assistant Professor of Commerce. The workshop witnessed an active participation of 60 students, and study material was distributed free of cost to all the attendees. The event proceedings were smoothly coordinated by Ms. Rajeswari of III Year Commerce, who served as the Master of Ceremony. The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. D. Sulthan Basha, Assistant Professor of Commerce, expressing gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, and students for making the workshop a success.

The workshop proved to be highly beneficial, equipping students with essential financial knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions in their personal and professional lives.

PLACEMENT AND TRAINING PROGRAMME

The Department of Commerce (A) of Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli, organized a Placement and Training Programme on the topic “Logistics Industry: Job Prospects and Career Opportunities” on 15th September 2025 at 4.30 P.M in the College Auditorium. The programme aimed to provide students with valuable insights into the logistics sector, which is recognized as one of the fastest-growing industries in India and abroad.

The event commenced with the Qirath rendered by Mr. S. Sheik Eid of III year, which was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Mr. N. Praveen of III year. Mr. Siva Balan of II year then introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering. Achievements of students were proudly presented by Mr. Hari Arun Raj of II year, Mr. Kadhar Mydeen of III year, and Mr. S. Sheik Eid of III year, highlighting the academic and extracurricular successes of the department.

The Presidential Address was delivered by the Principal, Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, who stressed the significance of placement-oriented training and preparing students for industry requirements. This was followed by the Felicitation Address from the Vice-Principal, Dr. R. Janet Rani, who appreciated the initiative of the department in conducting career-focused programmes. The Special Address was then presented by Mr. Perinbaraj, Entrepreneur and Trainer, JJ Logistics Consultancy and Training Services. He enlightened the students about career opportunities, skill requirements, and the growing demand in the logistics sector, which served as the core learning of the programme.

Towards the end, the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. M. Sankara Narayanan of III year, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and participants for making the event a success. The entire programme was conducted smoothly with effective coordination by the Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Sabeer of III year and Mr. L. Parvathi Krishnan Logesh of II year. The Placement and Training Programme was a remarkable success as it motivated students to explore career opportunities in the logistics industry while equipping them with an understanding of emerging trends and future prospects. By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, the event reflected the institution’s continued commitment to student employability, skill development, and career readiness.

INVESTOR AWARENESS PROGRAM (IAP)

The Department of Commerce (A) organized an Investor Awareness Program on 22 September 2025 at 2.30.P.M.in the college Auditorium to educate students on investment practices, financial discipline, and responsible wealth creation. The session was conducted free of cost by Poornatha Partnering Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Viswanathan Vaidhyanathan, an experienced corporate trainer and consultant, served as the facilitator. He highlighted the importance of early financial planning, explained basic investment instruments, and encouraged students to adopt informed decision-making in personal finance.

The program witnessed active participation from B.Com students of all three years, totaling 162 along with 4 staff members. Study materials were distributed to every participant at no cost, enabling them to reinforce their learning after the session. Students appreciated the interactive approach and practical tips provided by the trainer. The event broadened their understanding of investment opportunities and instilled awareness of safeguarding financial resources.

The Department conveyed Its sincere thanks to Poornatha Partnering Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. For their support and to Mr. Viswanathan Vaidhyanathan for an insightful presentation. The session concluded with positive feedback, marking it as a significant step toward nurturing financial literacy among commerce students.

LOGISTICS AND SHIPPING CONCLAVE

The Department of Commerce (A), in association with the Training and Placement Cell, organized a Logistics and Shipping Conclave on 28th January 2026 at 11.00.A.M.in the College Auditorium. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the scope, significance, and career opportunities in the logistics and shipping industry.

The event commenced with a Welcome Address by Mr. S. Sheik Eid, III B.Com (A). This was followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, Principal, who highlighted the importance of industry exposure and skill development for students. The Felicitation Address was given by Dr. R. Janet Rani, Vice-Principal, Unaided Courses, who appreciated the initiative taken by the department.

The Special Address was delivered by Mr. Jesudasan Ben Christopher, Senior Faculty, Indian Institute of Logistics. He provided valuable insights into logistics and shipping operations, emerging trends, and career prospects in the field. The session was informative and engaging.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. M. Thulasi Kannan, III B.Com (A). The event was efficiently compered by Ms. A. Rajeswari, I B.Com (A). The conclave was successful and beneficial to the students.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP,INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH

Department of Commerce A organized a Guest Lecture on “Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Sustainable Economic Growth” on 13th February 2026 at 4:30 p.m. in the College Auditorium with the objective of enriching students understanding of emerging entrepreneurial opportunities and the role of innovation in building a sustainable economy.

The program commenced with a qirath rendered by Pareeth A I.B.COM.A, creating a serene and respectful atmosphere for the session. The gathering was formally welcomed by Mr. Hari Ram Shankar III.B.COM.A, who delivered the Welcome Address. He warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students, and highlighted the relevance of entrepreneurship education in the present economic scenario.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Principal Dr. K. Abdul Kader , who emphasized the importance of innovative thinking, risk-taking ability, and ethical business practices in achieving sustainable economic growth. He encouraged students to develop entrepreneurial mind-sets and to contribute meaningfully to society through responsible business ventures.

The Felicitation Address was offered by Dr. Janet Rani, Vice Principal, who appreciated the efforts of the Department of Commerce in organizing such an informative session. She motivated students to make use of similar academic platforms to broaden their knowledge and skills.

The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Vilashini P. I.B.COM.A who gave a brief profile and highlighted the achievements and expertise of the resource person.

The Special Address was delivered by Dr.V.SANGEETHA,., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Sri Saratha College for women, who served as the resource person for the session. In his insightful lecture, he elaborated on the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation, explaining how creativity and technological advancements drive sustainable economic growth. He also discussed real-world examples of successful entrepreneurs and stressed the importance of adaptability, sustainability practices, and continuous learning in today’s competitive business environment. The session was highly interactive and provided valuable guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Sheik Eid, III.B.COM.A who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal, Vice Principal, faculty members, organizers, and students for their active participation and support in making the event a grand success.

Overall, the Guest Lecture was highly informative and inspiring, leaving the students motivated to explore innovative entrepreneurial opportunities and contribute towards sustainable economic development.
