Sadakath Outreach Programme 2015-2016

Sadakath Outreach Programme (SOP), an extension activity of our College, has been in progress since 2009. Dr. M. Sheik Muhideen Badhusha, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, was the Co-ordinator during the academic year 2015–2020. Dr. N. Mohamed Rilwan, Department of Mathematics is the Coordinator from Nov 2020.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell

The Career Guidance and Placement Cell has been very active this academic year. This year was really an abundant and a memorable one for the Placement Cell with high spirited activities. Dr. A. Syed Mohamed is the Coordinator. It has organized a series of porgrammes and off-campus drives. It has also organized various training programmes. The details are as follows.

  • 300 students registered for a Free Training Programme on Banking, Financial Services and Insurances organised by NSE, Mumbai, under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
  • 60 students underwent a Training Programme for Debt Recovery Agents organised by National Skill Development Corporation of India and NSE, Mumbai, under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. The training was conducted from 10.09.15 to 01.10.15. Mr. K. Thanga Thirupathi, Assistant Vice President and Branch Head, Axis Bank, Tirunelveli Town Branch inaugurated the programme. Mr. M. JeyaPrakash, Partner, Finvisor Knowledge Management Services, Chennai, delivered a special address. An online examination was conducted for the trained students. 60 students who appeared for final examination are waiting for the results.
  • 4 students from II B.Com. attended LIC agency training programme in LIC divisional office.

The particulars of Campus Recruitment Drives conducted during this academic year are as follows

  • An Off-Campus Recruitment Drive for ICICI Bank was conducted on 08.10.2015 by TVS Training and Services, Chennai, for students those who completed their degree in 2015. A total of 375 students from various Arts and Science Colleges participated in the Drive. 30 students were selected from among them.
  • A Campus Recruitment Drive for Muthoot Finance Limited, Tirunelveli was conducted on 29.02.2016 for final year UG students. 50 students were selected for the final round. The selection list is yet to be published.
  • A Campus Recruitment Drive for VSR International School (CBSE), Tisayanvilai was conducted on 25.02.2016 for final year UG and PG female students. 3 of our students were selected.

I am happy to inform you that with the guidance of the Placement Cell of our College, many students have got appointments in various concerns. The details are as follows.

  • Abdul Kareem and Satham Hussain of III B.Sc. Chemistry have been selected as quality analysts for Nova Carbons India Private Limited, Gangaikondan SIPCOT, Tirunelveli.
  • S. Elankavi who completed B.Sc. Chemistry in our College and Mohammed Abdullah of III B.Sc. Chemistry, have been selected as Process Controllers in Sterlite Industries, Tuticorin. The total emolument is Rs.1,80,000 per annum during the training period. The interview was held on 24.02.2016 at St.Xaviers College, Palayamkottai.

Anti-Ragging Committee:

The Anti-ragging committee of our College comprises a Media Person, a Lawyer and a Police Official. The Anti-Ragging Committee met on 02.07.2015 in the Principal’s Chamber. The special meeting for the first year students was organized on their first day with a view to creating awareness on ragging. Mr. Hasan, a Leading Criminal Lawyer, delivered a talk on anti-ragging. An Anti-Ragging Squad has been formed to make surprise visits in both the hostels. A formal circular is sent to each class indicating the toll-free phone number and the stringent measures that would be taken against ragging. Frequent warnings are given to all students on behalf of the Committee. Phone numbers of the Coordinator of the Anti-Ragging Committee and the toll free number are displayed on the notice boards of the college and the hostels. Close vigilance and monitoring is done within the campus with the help of CCTV cameras located at different strategic points.

Alumni Association

The Annual Alumni Get-Together is an occasion when the alumni of our College come together to celebrate their memories with great enthusiasm and affinity towards their Alma Mater. They share their sweet memories. The get-together also paves way to elicit feedback and valuable suggestions from our alumni regarding the development of our institution on many aspects. The Alumni Get Together for this year was organized on 07.02.2016 at our College Seminar Hall. The meeting was honoured by the turn out of Alumni in great number. Prof. R. Madasamy, Former Principal of DIET, Munanjipatti and Thiru. T.J. Samuel Durairaj, Vice Princiapal, IIPE Laxmi Raman Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli, were the Chief Guests. They were honoured with The Best Alumni Award this year. Nearly 175 alumni participated in this event. The alumni of our College also participated in the interaction with the NAAC Peer Team members on 04.11.2015 held in our College. This interaction was one of the aspects that remained instrumental for our institution in getting ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.40.
