Sadakath Outreach Programme 2017-2018

Sadakath Outreach Programme, an extension activity of our College, has been in progress since 2009. Dr. M. Sheik Muhideen Badhusha, Department of Chemistry, is the Co-ordinator. The following are the programmes organized on behalf of SOP.

  • Thirty Three female volunteers and 3 staff in-charge from the Departments of Tamil, Computer Science and Commerce (CA) conducted a survey at Burkitmanagaram village on 31.07.2017. The people told that they suffer from water scarcity and malfunction of streetlights. They told that they are interested in starting Small Scale Industries.
  • Thirty Eight female volunteer students and 4 staff in-charge from the Departments of Computer Applications, Information Technology and Commerce (Unaided) conducted a survey at Meyakhanpalli village on 02.08.2017. The people reported menace of reptiles and swarming mosquitoes. They requested the SOP volunteers to help them in getting their Voter ID. They wanted to learn more about craft works.
  • A total of 32 girls and one staff in-charge from the Department of Maths (Unaided) conducted a survey at Keelanatham (Therkur) village on 03.08.2017. The villagers asked for a separate water tank and they wanted the street lights to be repaired.
  • A total of 30 girls and one staff in-charge from the Department of Zoology (Aided) conducted a survey at Keelanatham (Vadakur) village on 04.08.2017. The villagers wanted a separate water tank and street lights. The village has poor sanitary conditions. The villagers wanted to equip the library with more books. They showed interest in mushroom cultivation.
  • A total of 45 girls and 1 staff in-charge from the Department of English (Aided) surveyed the Syedinganallur village on 07.08.2017. Water scarcity is the major problem in the village.
  • A special medical camp was organized in Sandapettai village on 19.08.2017. Nearly 75 people were benefitted from this Medical camp. Blood Pressure and Diabetes Level of the locals were tested. 33 boys and one staff in-charge from the Department of History participated in this medical camp.
  • A Programme to serve Nilavembu Decoction in Syedunganallur village was organized on 29.08.2017. Dr. Subashchandran M.D(s), (Govt. Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai) distributed Nilavembu Decoction to the village people. Around 200 people got benefitted. A total of 35 girls and 1 staff in-charge from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics participated in this programme.
  • A Total of 11 male volunteers and 1 staff in-charge from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics organised Food Preservation Progrmme at Burkitmanagaram village on 13.09.2017. Nearly 15 village people were benefited from this programme. Ms. Aariba, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics spoke about the techniques of food preservation.
  • A Total of 34 girls and 1 staff in-charge from the Department of Mathematics (Aided) organised Food Preservation Programme at Syedunganallur village on 04.10.2017. Nearly 25 village people were benefited from this programme. Ms. Aariba, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics spoke about the techniques of Food preservation.
  • We organized a Central Government Programme with Field Publicity Society at Meyakhanpalli on 06.10.2017. Nearly 30 village people were benefited from this programme. Mr. Bosewell, Field Publicity Society Officer, spoke about Central Govertment Schemes. A Total of 36 girl students and 2 staff in-charge from Chemistry, Computer science (Aided) participated in this programme.
  • A Total of 76 male volunteers and 2 staff in-charge from the Department of Commerce (Aided) and Business Administration (Unaided) organised Dengue Awareness Programme at Sadakathullah Appa College on 14.10.2017. Mr. Selvan, Nursing Tutor, Tirunelveli Medical College spoke on Dengue Awareness and Prevention Technique.
  • “Demonstration for Terrace Garden” programme was organised at Burkitmanagararm village on 20.10.2017. Nearly 25 village people were benefited from this programme. Mrs. Syed Ali Fathima, Department of Botany demonstrated Terrace Garden to the village people 10 boy students and 1 staff in-charge were participated in this programme.
  • A Total of 75 male volunteers and 4 staff in-charge from the Department of Physics, Mathematics (Aided), Finance, English (Unaided) organized a rally about Dengue Awareness at Burkitmanagaram on 25.10.2017. Student volunteers distributed pamphlets to the village people.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Programme was held at Sadakathullah Appa College on 26.10.2017. Dr. Arumugam, Dr.Anitha, Mrs. Nikila Rani, Mr. Selvan from Tirunelveli Medical College spoke about Breast Cancer and about Self Breast Examination. Totally 100 female students and staff members were participated in this programme.
  • A Total of 65 male students and 2 staff members organized a Dengue Awareness Programme at KTC Nagar on 02.11.2017. Students visited every home and created Dengue awareness among the people.
  • A Total of 30 male students and 2 staff in-charge from the Department of Tamil and Information Technology (Unaided) distributed Nilavembu decoction at Keelanatham (Therkur and vadakur) on 02.11.2017. Nearly 300 people were benefited from this programme.
  • A Total of 50 male students and staff members organized Dengue Awareness Programme at KTC Nagar on 03.11.2017. Students went to every home and educated the people about the preventive methods of Dengue.
  • The SOP Volunteers planted saplings in Sadakathullah Appa College on 20.12.2017.
  • A Total of 20 male students and 1 staff in-charge from the Department of History (Aided) planted saplings in Syedunganallur village on 19.01.2018.

Sadakath Consumer Forum and Entrepreneurship Development Cell is a new star in the Sadak horizon. It has been resolved to conduct various meetings, orientation programmes and consumer awareness programmes. In this view, the cell has organized one guest lecture on Consumer Awareness and Consumer Rights on 07.03.2018 at the college seminar hall. Mr. S. Ganesan, Project Manager, District Industries Centre, Tirunelveli has delivered the Key-note Address. He spoke on “The Role of DIC in Entrepreneurial Development Activities”. Dr. P. Geetha, Department of Commerce is the staff in-charge of the cell.
