About the Department

The Motto of The Department of Chemistry is to provide quality education, employment and to increase the productivity and prosperity. The B.Sc. Chemistry has been offered since 1979. The Choice Based Credit System was introduced in the year 2007-08 and the course was designed accordingly. The Under Graduate Chemistry Programme has been carefully planned to give students a strong foundation in theory and applications of recent developments in Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry offers M.Sc. Molecular Modeling and Drug Design, sponsored by the UGC under the innovative programme scheme. In the academic year 2017-18, M.Sc. Chemistry was started. On 29.01.2018, the Department of Chemistry was recognized as Research Centre to offer Ph.D. Programme in Chemistry. All the faculty in the department are Doctorates. All the Government Aided faculty are approved as Ph.D. Guides by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
