ONE - DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA: PROBLEMS AND PROGRESS

The Department of Economics Organized a One day National seminar on Sustainable Development in India: Problems and Progress on October 18th and Dr.S.Puttaswamaiah, Professor, Department of Economics, Bangalore University, Bangalore has delivered the Inaugural Address. we have organized two technical session and the first session Dr.Chelladurai, Head & Assistant Professor, PG Department of Economics, Ambai Arts college, Ambasamudram acted as a resource person. Technical session – II Dr.A.Kannan, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Economics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai acted as a Resource Person. This seminar more than 30 colleges in various district and various university’s Participated. More than 25 papers will be presented in session I and session II also. And we have received 120 papers in various colleges Faculty members and Research Scholars and Industrialist.

THE GUEST LECTURE ON “BUDGET – 2024 – AN ANALYSIS’’

The Department of Economics organized a Department Association Guest Lecture on “Budget – 2024: An Analysis” on February 23, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in the College Auditorium. The programme began with Qirath, creating a dignified and reflective atmosphere for the session.

Dr. D. Kathiravan, Assistant Professor of Economics, St. John’s College, Tirunelveli, delivered an insightful keynote address on the Union Budget 2024. He presented a detailed analysis of the budget, highlighting its key features, policy priorities, and economic implications. The lecture offered valuable perspectives on fiscal planning, revenue and expenditure trends, and their impact on economic growth and development.

The event included a welcome address by Dr. M. Esakkiammal, Assistant Professor of Economics and Head of the Department, followed by the presidential address by Dr. A. Shakul Hamid, Principal In-Charge and Head of the Department of Computer Science. The felicitation address was delivered by Dr. S. M. A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice Principal, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. N. Saharban, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.

The guest lecture proved to be highly beneficial for the Economics students, enhancing their understanding of contemporary budgetary issues and their relevance to the Indian economy.

DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION VALEDICTORY PROGRAMME ON “MONETARY POLICY ”

The Department of Economics organized the Department Association Valedictory Programme on April 15, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. in the College Auditorium. The programme commenced with Qirath, creating a respectful and formal atmosphere.

Mr. K. Alagarsamy, Assistant Professor of Economics, The M.D.T. Hindu College, Pettai, Tirunelveli, delivered the keynote address on the topic “Monetary Policy.” In his lecture, he explained the concept, objectives, and instruments of monetary policy, highlighting the role of the Reserve Bank of India in regulating money supply, controlling inflation, and maintaining economic stability. His clear and engaging delivery, supported by practical examples, helped students relate theoretical concepts to real-world economic conditions.

The programme included a welcome address by Dr. M. Esakkiammal, Assistant Professor of Economics and Head of the Department. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. S. M. A. Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice Principal. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. N. SaharBan, Assistant Professor of Economics.
