As the association was commemorating the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, students performed varied tasks glorifying Tagore. S. Hameedha Jasmine briefed thebiography of Rabindranath Tagore and A. Emmimmal delivered a talk on ‘Tagore as a Nobel Laureate’. The PG students sang Tagore’s renowned song “Where the Mind is Without Fear” from Gitanjali. Dr. A. Arokiya Vajitha introduced the Chief Guest Dr. Maria Sahaya Sharmila. The Chief Guest delivered a special lecture on the topic "Literature: The Reflectionof Life". The President of the literary association thanked everyone.

INAUGURATION OF ENGLISH LITERARY ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES

The Postgraduate Department of English cordially organized the Inauguration of the English Literary Association Activities on 8th September 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the College Auditorium. The event was graced by enthusiastic students, marking the commencement of yet another vibrant academic year of literary engagement. The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by the Head of PG Department of English Dr.L.Anita Gnanamuttu. Followed by the Presidential Address delivered by Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader , the Principal, who highlighted the importance of literary forums in shaping critical and cultural consciousness among students. Dr. R. Janet Rani delivered the Felicitation Address appreciating the initiatives taken by the department in nurturing literary talents. The Second Felicitation Address was presented by Dr. S. Mohamed Haneef, Vice-Principal, Associate Professor and Head, Research Department of English, and IQAC Coordinator. He emphasized the role of literature in understanding contemporary issues and encouraged students to actively participate in all forthcoming association activities. The office bearers for the English Literary Association was also conducted. The president of the association is Ms.Raihana, Secretary is Ms.Shaik Ayisha Begum and the Treasurer is Mr.S.Sheik Mohaideen. The highlight of the event was the Inaugural Address delivered by Dr. E. Lenin, Assistant Professor of English, Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur. He delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the topic: “Representations of Socio-Political Conflict and Cultural Crisis in Recent Literatures”. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, and students for their participation and support. The event proved to be an inspiring beginning to the Literary Association’s academic year, setting the tone for many intellectually enriching programs ahead.
