Application of Mathematics 30.07.2025

The Inauguration of the Mathematics Association for the academic year 2025-26 was held on 30.07.2025 at 11.00 a.m. in the Auditorium, Sadakathullah Appa College (Autonomous), Tirunelveli. The programme started with Qirath. Dr. S. Firthous Fatima, Head, Department of Mathematics (UG) welcomed and introduced the Guest Speaker. Dr. R. Janet Rani, Vice Principal of the College gave the felicitation address. The Resource Person Dr. S. Yahya Mohamed, Associate Professor, PG and Research Department of Mathematics, Rani Anna Government College for Women, Tirunelveli delivered a speech on the topic “Application of Mathematics”. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. U. Jerseena, Head, Department of Mathematics (PG), delivered the vote of thanks. 111 students attended the function.

Mathematical Perspectives on Uncertainty and its Solution Strategies 14.08.2025

The Guest Lecture – I of the Mathematics Association for the academic year 2025-2026 was held on 14.08.2025 at 11.00 a.m. in the Auditorium, Sadakathullah Appa College (Autonomous), Tirunelveli. The programme started with Qirath. Dr. S. Syed Ali Fathima, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, Principal of the College delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. R. Janet Rani, Vice Principal of the College and Dr. S. Firthous Fatima, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics gave the felicitation address. Dr. U. Jerseena, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics (PG) introduced the Resource Person. The Resource Person Dr. J. Subhashini, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, St. John’s College, Palayamkottai delivered a Lecture on the topic “Mathematical Perspectives on Uncertainty and its solution strategies”. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. M. Himaya Jaleela Begum, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme provided academic enrichment to 107 participants, comprising Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research Scholars.

One day institutional workshop on Bridge Theory and Practice: Statistical Analysis using JAMOVI 12.12.2025

A one day Institutional workshop on “Bridge Theory and Practice: Statistical Analysis using JAMOVI” was held at Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli on 12th December 2025 organized by Department of Mathematics in collaboration with Training and Placement Cell. Fifty two students from our department students were participated in the workshop. The Workshop was inaugurated at 9.30 a.m. It started with Qirath by T. K. Mohammed Ushman Junail, III B.Sc. Mathematics, S. Reema Shifana, II M.Sc. Mathematics student welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. Hamil, Principal in-charge delivered Presidential address. Dr. Asweel Ahmed A Jaleel, Assistant Placement Co-ordinator gave the felicitation address. After the inaugural function the Technical Session began at 10.45 a.m. The Resource Person Dr. A. Jabarali, Department of Statistics, Madras Christian College, Chennai, provided a hands on training on the Topic “Statistical Analysis using JAMOVI”. The second technical session began at 2.00 p.m. The Valedictory function was held at 3.30 p.m. Dr. R. Janet Rani, Vice Principal of the College delivered the valedictory address. A. Asrin Thayiba, II M.Sc. Mathematics, gave the vote of thanks.

National Mathematics Day 22.12.2025

The Department of Mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day on 22.12.2025 at 10.00 a.m. in the Auditorium, Sadakathullah Appa College (Autonomous), Tirunelveli. The Resource Person Mr. S. B. S. Younus, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science (Unaided), Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli delivered a lecture on the topic “Mathematics: The Foundation of Modern Computing”. There are 100 students attended in this programme. The Department conducted math competitions for our students. Seventeen teams participated in the model presentation and fifteen teams participated in the theme of Mathematics. Dr. V. Roseline, Head & Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science (PG), Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli and Dr. Asweel Ahamed A Jaleel, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Sadakathullah Appa College, Tirunelveli, are acted as a judge for the competition. The best three model presentation and Rangoli designs were awarded.

The programme started with Qirath. Dr. V. P. Asan Nagoor Meeran, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, welcomed the gathering. Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, Principal of the College delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. R. Janet Rani, Vice Principal of the college and Dr. S. Firthous Fatima, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics gave the felicitation address. Dr. U. Jerseena, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics (PG) introduced the Resource Person. The Resource Person Dr. R. Radha, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Sri Paramakalyani College, Alwarkurichi delivered a Lecture on the topic “When Algebra Meets Graphs !?”. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. V. G. Smilin Shali, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme provided academic enrichment to 105 participants, comprising Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research Scholars.

National Conference on Recent Trends in Discrete Mathematics (NCRTDM26) 05.02.2026

The Department of Mathematics, Sadakathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai, conducted a one-day National Conference on “Recent Trends in Discrete Mathematics (NCRTDM26)” on February 5, 2026 at the College seminar hall. The inaugural session started with the Qirath by Mahir, I.B.com Honours. Dr. N. Mohamed Rilwan, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Organizing Secretary, welcomed the gathering. The Principal, Dr. S. M. Abdul Kader, delivered the presidential address, while the Vice Principal, Dr. R. Janet Rani, offered felicitations. The guest introduction was given by Dr. V. P. Asan Nagoor Meeran, Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Dr. R. Kala, Professor of Mathematics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University delivered the keynote address on “The Mathematical Areas Contributed by Paul Erdős and their Practical Applications.” The inauguration ended with the vote of thanks given by Dr. S. Jamal Fathima, Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Dr. Nadeem Ur Rehman, Professor, Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, spoke on “Algebraic Properties of Reversible Cyclic Codes over Finite Rings.” This was followed by paper presentations from postgraduate students and research scholars. Dr. V. P. Ramesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Central University of Tamil Nadu, delivered a lecture on “Erdős, Universal Structures, and their Applications.” This event not only celebrated the legacy of Paul Erdős but also showcased the growing interest in discrete mathematics and its applications among young researchers in India. More than 20 research papers were presented. Around 150 participants, including students, scholars, and faculty members, benefited from the sessions. Dr. U. Jerseena, Head of PG Department of Mathematics and Organizing Secretary, welcomed the gathering in the valedictory function. The certificates was distributed to the participants by the guests. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. A. Mallika, Assistant Professor of Mathematics.
