The Department of Arabic (Aided) began its departmental activities with a Guest Lecture on September 23, 2016. Dr. A. Jahir Hussain, Assistant Professor of Arabic and Chairman, University of Madras, was the Guest of Honour. He spoke on the topic Why is Learning Arabic Important in the Modern Life?

The Department also conducted a UGC sponsored National Level Seminar on The Developments of Islamic Jurisprudence over the Ages on December 22, 2016 . Dr. S. Anwar Badhusha, Guest Lecturer, Department of Arabic, Urdu and Persian, University of Madras, Chennai, and Dr. K. Jamaludeen Farooqi, Principal (Rtd), WMO College, Wayanadu, Kerala, were the Resource persons.

The Department organized a Quiz Programme on March 07, 2017 . Seven colleges participated in the event. Hajee Karutha Rowthar Houdhiya College, Uthamapalayam, bagged the first prize. Annai Hajira Women’s College and Sadakathullah Appa College shared the second prize. Wavoo Wajeeha College for Women, Kayalpatnam, won the third prize. Nearly 200 students participated in the programme. Dr. A. Jahir Hussain, Assistant Professor, University of Madras, was the Quiz Master.

The Department of Islamic Studies (Unaided) inaugurated its Association on September 07, 2016. Moulana, Al-Hafiz M.S. Shawqath Ali Alim Usmani, Chief Imam and Katheeb, Nagercoil, was the chief guest.
