Activities – (2017-2018)

The Department of Arabic (Aided) began its departmental activities for the academic year 2017 with a Guest Lecture on August 29. Alhafil Moulavi. M.S. Shawkath Ali Usman, Khateeb, Cultural Mosque, Nagarcoil, was the Guest of Honour. He delivered a talk on the topic Moral Consciousness in Arabic Literature. Yet another guest lecture was conducted by the Department on September 25, 2017. Moulavi. M.Y. Humayoon Kabeer, Principal, Riyalul Jinan Arabic College, Pettai, Tirunelveli, was the Resource Person. He spoke on the topic Migration and its Lessons in the History of Arabic Literature.

The Department also conducted a UGC sponsored National Colloquium on The Multifaceted Personality of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) on December 21, 2017. Dr. Mohamed Ayub Siddiqui, Assistant Professor, Department of Arab Studies, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad; Dr. M. Abdul Samad, Head, Department of Tamil, Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College, Uthamapalayam; A Mohamed Ismail Hasani, Assistant Professor, PG and Research Department of Arabic, Jamal Mohamed College; Moulavi M.Y. Humayoon Kabeer Usmani, Principal, Riyazhul Jinan Arabic College, Pettai, Tirunelveli;

Moulavi Dr. S. Abdus Samad Nadwi, Assistant Professor, School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Deemed University, Chennai; and K. Sulthan Salahudheen, Assistant Professor, Zawiya Arabic College, Kayalpattinam, were the Resource Persons.

The Department organized a Quiz Programme on February 20, 2018. Nearly 200 students participated in the programme.

The Department of Islamic Studies (Unaided) inaugurated its Association for the academic year 2017 on July 20 Twith Moulana, Al-Hafiz K. A. Abdul Alim Maslahi Fazil Dewbandhi, Chief Imam and Katheeb, Jamiya Mosque, Tuticorin, as the chief guest.

The Department organized its first Guest Lecture on August 10, 2017. Moulana, Al-Hafiz, I. Shahul Hameed Alim Wahidi, Imam, Big Jum’a Mosque, Vadakarai, was the Resource Person. The Department conducted its second Guest lecture on January 11, 2018 with the guest speaker Moulana, Al-Hafiz, M.A. Mohamed Mustafa Alim Maslahi, Professor, Manbaussalah Arabic College, Tuticorin.

The Department has organized a State Level Workshop on Comprehending and Classifying the Commentaries of the Holy Qur’an. Moulavi.
