Activities - (2021-2022)

The UG Department of Physics, Sadakathullah Appa college conducted a webinar on Introduction to Nanotechnology on 12thJune 2021. The chief guest Dr.K.Vijayakumar gave a lecture on introduction to Nanotechnology. In his lecture, he discussed the emergence of Nanotechnology, Synthesis, and application of Nanotechnology in digital era and the positive and negative aspects of Nanotechnology. His lecture was simple and examples from day-to-day life was easily understood by the participants. More than 170 research scholars, professors and college students from various colleges participated in this webinar.

Physics Association Inauguration was conducted by department of Physics in the year 2022

The Department of Physics, Sadakathullah Appa College, inaugurated the Physics Association on 1stof April 2022. The Chief Guest, Dr.John Prince Soundaranayagam delivered a special lecture on Environmental Physics to the students in the inaugural function. His lecture was simple and the examples he gave from day-to-day life was easily understood by the participants. More than 140 participants including Research Scholars, Professors, UG and PG students of the department participated in the inauguration function.

An Guest Lecture “Science of colours” was organized by the department of Physics in the year 2022

The Department of Physics, Sadakathullah Appa College, organized a Guest Lecture on “Science of Colours” on 25th of May 2022. The Chief Guest, Dr.C. James, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, delivered a very interesting talk on Science of Colours. He also conducted an interactive session with the participants. More than 140 participants including Research Scholars, Professors, UG and PG students of Sadakathullah Appa College, participated in the function.

The Department of Physics, Sadakathullah Appa College, organized an essay writing competition for its students on 28th February 2022, which is celebrated as National Science Day to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect, which led to Sir C.V.Raman winning the Nobel Prize. The Essay writing competition started at 10.00 a.m. The students of the second year B.Sc. Programme were asked to write an essay on one of the following topics:

  • Achievement of Albert Einstein.
  • Applications of Nanotechnology.

    • The students of the third year B.Sc. Programme were asked to write an essay on one of the following topics:

  • Sir C.V. Raman Research Contributions in the field of Physics.
  • Advances in Communication Technology

    • More than 25 student’s participated enthusiastically and best three essays were awarded with cash prizes.
