The Department of Zoology inaugurated its Association on 29.08.2022. The chief guest was Ms. Hemalatha, Assistant conservator of Forest, Forest protection squad, Tirunelveli who spoke on the topic “conservation and management of forest resources in India”.
The Department of Zoology in association with Government Museum, Tirunelveli organized Ozone Layer Protection Rally and Special Talk on “World Ozone Day” -16.09.2022. Rally was started from the entrance of District Central Library, Palayamkottai and ends at the Government Museum, Tirunelveli. Dr.S.M.A Syed Mohamed Khaja, Vice principal Sadakathullah Appa College and Mrs. S.Sathiyavalli District Curator, Government Museum flagged off the rally. Dr.G.S.Vijayalakshmi, Professor of Environmental Science (Rtd), MS University, Tirunelveli gave a special talk on “Ozone Layer Depletion and its Impact on Environment”.
Department of Zoology and Department of Applied Nutrition & Public Health organized guest lecture “World Diabetic Day” on 14-11-2022. The resource person was Dr. Bina Vadhavakar, Assistant Medical Officer Homeopathy, GH, Kovilpatti. She motivated the students with her talk on “Awareness on prevention and management of Diabetes Mellitus”. The students Participated, Presented Posters and enacted a play.
The Department also celebrated the National Siddha Day on 09.01.2023, Dr. G. Subash Chandran Associate Professor, Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai delivered a talk on “Awareness on Siddha medicine”. Government Museum Tirunelveli and Department of Zoology organized an awareness Programme on World Cancer Day on 04.03.2023. Dr.M.Abirami, and Dr.Pandiselvi, Medical Officer, Nellai Cancer Centre, Palayamkottai gave the special lecture on “Awareness on General Cancer, Oral, Breast and Cervical Cancer”
The Valedictory Function of Department of Zoology Association was held on 27.04.2023. Mr.Tr.S. Esakkimuthiah, Psychologist, Varma Therapist, HR Trainer was the chief guest. He delivered a speech on the title “SELF-WATCHING” He motivated the students with self-awareness thoughts and the highlighted the importance of Holistic development of the individuals.
